During the 116th Varsi Mahotsav of Shahanshah Satguru Swami Sai Satramdas Saheb Ji, in His very beautiful satsang, Hazir Swaroop Sai Sadhram Saheb explained that it is completely incorrect to say that a person is called a human being merely because he is born in a human form.
God has given every living being a distinct form along with a distinct nature, by which that being is recognized. For example, a lion is known by its bravery and roar; a dog is known by its barking and biting; a cuckoo is recognized by its voice, and a snake is identified by its venom.
In the same way, a human being is not recognized by appearance, but by the richness of human values and inner refinement. Among all living beings, humans are the most intelligent and capable. With their understanding, they can influence others. God has bestowed humans with greater wisdom and discernment than all other creatures. When this wisdom is used correctly, a person can gain control over the mind, distinguish between right and wrong, and truly be called civilized.
We do not observe the birth anniversaries and varsis of our Satgurus, great personalities, Devis, and Devtas merely because they were born on those days or merged into the Divine on those dates. We observe these occasions so that, by remembering their greatness and their invaluable lives, we may adopt their virtues in our own lives and become better human beings ourselves.
Saijan further explained that merely thinking we are human because we are born in a human form is a misunderstanding. A person is called a human being only when humanity resides within. If one performs acts of cruelty or animal instinct, then one will be called an animal, not a human being.
That is why we come to the refuge of our Satguru, to receive His blessings so that we may become good human beings and rise from being merely human to becoming noble, but never fall into animalistic behavior. Only when we cultivate humanity within ourselves do we truly become real human beings.
Hazir Swaroop Sai Sadhram Saheb also explained that proper upbringing of children does not happen merely through telling or hearing, but through setting an example. Elders learn by observing, and children too learn by watching their elders. Therefore, it is essential that we fill ourselves with good values and virtues and become a living example for our children through our conduct, because children learn primarily by watching us.
Saijna said that we participate in and observe the Varsi Mahotsav of Shahanshah Satguru Swami Sai Satramdas Saheb Ji for this very reason: we reflect upon His life, and just as He practiced what He preached, we too walk on the same path and act upon noble teachings.
Our life is shaped by our actions.
By learning from the life of Shahanshah Satguru and by practicing His teachings, we can receive His grace and blessings.
