With the practice of Naam simran, one can attain great spiritual peace and happiness.
Once, Shehenshah Satguru, Sant Sai Satramdas Sahib, was sitting with his devotees and attentively listening to their problems. At that moment, a wealthy businessman from Bhambhra Bhari, named Shree Mukund Mal, approached Sant Sai Satramdas Sahib and humbly requested him to provide a practical demonstration of how to navigate through the challenges of the materialistic world and emerge successful.Sant Sai Satramdas Sahib, with a serene smile, advised Mukund Mal to seek the example of real-life experiences in this world by traveling and visiting various places. Following the guidance, Mukund Mal set off on a pilgrimage, visiting many sacred sites before resting at a lodging in a town called Amrot in the Sindh province.
Unknown to Mukund Mal, a man from Amrot had previously left his family after a dispute and bore a striking resemblance to him. The locals, mistaking Mukund Mal for the estranged man, approached him and urged him to reconcile with his family, as it was not healthy to hold onto grudges for so many years and that his family needed his support.
Upon hearing the mistaken identity, Mukund Mal became anxious and explained to the people of Amrot that they had the wrong person. However, the Amrot locals refused to believe him and took him forcibly to the family of the man who had run away. The family was astounded to see Mukund Mal, as he bore an uncanny resemblance to their missing family member. To add to the confusion, Mukund Mal had a mark on his head identical to the one the missing man had.
Despite Mukund Mal’s protests, no one believed him, and he was bound with ropes. In his agony, Mukund Mal turned to prayer and invoked the name of Shahanshah Satguru Sai Satramdas Sahib. He implored the people of Amrot to take him to Raharki Sahib to meet with Sant Sai Satramdas Sahib, who he believed could shed light on the truth.
Fortunately, the people of Amrot were also followers of Sant Sai Satramdas Sahib and agreed to take Mukund Mal to Raharki Sahib to meet with Shahanshah Satguru Sai Satramdas Sahib.
When they arrived at Raharki Saheb, they discovered that Sant Satramdas Saheb had already left for Kashmore, having been invited there by its residents. Despite Mukund Mal’s fervent prayers, the people at Raharki Saheb, who knew him well, could not help him, insisting that they wait for Sant Satramdas Saheb to make a decision.
Traveling through the village of Ranwti, they finally arrived in Kashmore via boats, only to learn that Sant Satramdas Saheb was busy spreading his divine blessings and purifying the hearts of the people there. The people of Amrot brought the bound Mukund Mal before Sant Satramdas Saheb, who smiled upon seeing him and asked, “Mukund Mal, have you seen enough of life’s drama, or do you still crave more?”
Falling at the feet of the great Sant, Mukund Mal replied, “O Truthful and Great Sant, I have seen enough and have no more strength to bear this.”
The people of Amrot explained to Sant Satramdas Saheb that their missing family member had a distinctive cut mark on his head, and asked if the person who called himself Mukund Mal had the same mark. They believed that if Mukund Mal had the same cut mark on his head, it would prove that he was the missing man they had been searching for.
As they searched for the cut mark on Mukundmal’s head, they were surprised to find that it had disappeared. This confused them, but Sant Satramdas Saheb explained that Mukundmal was not the man they were searching for. He was, in fact, a different person altogether. The man they were looking for was living in the city, and Sant Satramdas Saheb asked the people of Amrot to go and bring him back to his family.
The people of Amrot were overjoyed to find the man they had been looking for and praised the justice of Sant Satramdas Saheb. In his Satsang, Sant Satramdas Saheb reminded everyone that all people are travelers in this world, born into attachments of relationships and repeating the same mistakes in their next lives. Only those who understand the truth of oneness, respect their Satguru unconditionally, and seek their shelter and blessings through Naam Simran can break free from this cycle of birth and death.
Mukundmal fell at the feet of Sant Satramdas Saheb and asked to be freed from the bondage of attachment and blessed with Naam simran. After receiving the blessings and accepting the Naam Daan from Sant Satramdas Saheb, Mukundmal became one with him.
The katha conveys several important messages,
