When Sant Sai Satramdas Sahib chose to depart from this earthly life and become one with the divine, Sant Kanwarram Sahib approached him and paid his respects by touching his feet. Kanwarram Sahib asked, “Without you, who will guide us? What will become of us?”
To illustrate his message to Sant Kanwarram Sahib, Sant Satramdas Sahib instructed someone to retrieve his trunk of clothing. He proceeded to remove each item of clothing from the trunk and wrapped them around his neck, one by one, before distributing them among the less fortunate. Lastly, he covered himself with a white shroud, typically used to wrap the deceased before their funeral.
Sai Satramdas Sahib then explained to Sant Kanwarram Sahib that the only difference between the shroud used to wrap a dead body and the clothing worn before death is that the shroud has no pockets. On the other hand, the clothing we wear before death has pockets located on the left side of our chest, which also covers our heart. These pockets symbolize greed
Shehenshah Satguru informed Sant Kanwaram Sahib that the divine resides within one’s heart. If people remove the pocket of greed, they will be able to rid themselves of all sin, negative thoughts, jealousy, and inappropriate behavior. By keeping their heart pure through regular meditation on their Satguru’s holy name, they will always be able to find their Satguru within their hearts
Sant Kanwarram Sahib thus learned how to remove the pocket of ignorance through the teachings of Sant Satramdas Sahib.
It is said that a person takes on the qualities of whoever he constantly thinks about. If one regularly meditates on the teachings of great sants and mahatmas, he himself will eventually become great.
