At a young age, Sant Sai Satramdas Sahib went on a pilgrimage. After taking a dip in the holy river Maa Ganga, and was preparing to go back to Raharki sahib, the Pandits asked him to leave something as a dakshna which was a custom for a pilgrim. Sant Sai Satramdas Sahib said “this custom of leaving something as Dakshna ( which is materialistic in nature) after a successful pilgrimage was a very old custom. Earlier, the custom of leaving something behind as a dakshna, after a person, successfully completed his pilgrimage was not of any materialistic nature, but a person used to make a vow, to leave behind his bad habits, or improprieties. But as times changed, things like, greed, possessiveness, hatred, jealousy, discrimination etc started dominating men, and people got so much used to these wrong habits, that they became slaves of these habits, and did not want to part with them, and then they started the custom of leaving some materialistic things as dakshna before going back home. Gradually this custom became popular, and people forgot the actual practice”. Sai Satramdas Sahib told Pandit ji that instead of leaving any materialist things he would like to a leave a bad habit. Sant Sai Satramdas Sahib said, that from that moment, he will get rid of speaking lies. Pandit ji was shocked and remained quiet. He did not know how to react. He was surprised and was wondering, that how this young man knows about the very old and ancient custom of leaving behind the bad habits after the completion of the pilgrimage. Pandit ji realized that the young boy was not an ordinary human being, but a great spiritual personality. While Pandit ji was absorbed thinking about the greatness of Sant Sai Satramdas Sahib, an old man, a yogi, whose forehead was glowing and had a long white majestic beard, which was suiting his divine face, appeared from somewhere, and looked at, young Satramdas Sahib, and touched his feet. Everyone present over there was surprised to witness such a rare historical moment. The Yogi said that he was doing meditation for a very long time.
He said, that every day he would asked God to bless him with his auspicious Darshan, his true divine form, and on that day while meditating he witnessed a strange kind of light, which he said, he could not describe, but he said that he heard a voice through that light, which said, “A true descendant of God has arrived on earth, who has a divine illumination on his forehead and whose name is ‘Satram’, and asked him to go and meet him, and then only he will get free, from the clutches of the cycle of birth and death, and will attain eternal oneness. That divine voice also said that the Yogi should go and honor him, with the pious word SACHO SATRAM, and tell the whole world that HE is SACHO SATRAMDAS and everyone should address him by this pious name. All human beings should chant his name and adopt the path of truth under his guidance, because those who will chant his name will attain their ‘true Eternal destination’”. This name was actually one of the names of God. The one who chants this name will be actually chanting the name of God” This holy man of such a divine and radiant personality bestowed the title ‘Sacho Satram’ upon Sai Satramdas Sahib, and after that Shehenshah Sai Satram Das Sahib is remembered and revered by the name of SACHO SATRAM DAS.
